Tell us about your film career so far...what experience do you have? What skills have you development and how? How did you gain the knowledge you currently have?
Although I was an enthusiastic camcorder-wielding child, I have only just stepped back into film through my work with costume design. Throughout my Master's degree in costume I have been making films to demonstrate my costumes, working through editing, sound design, and colour grading independently. Not only has my MA taught me how to design and construct costumes, but also how to represent them on screen.
What challenges have you faced? How have you overcome them?
I didn't have any formal training in costuming before my MA, so it has been a huge learning curve, but through my course and the help of my friends I have learned so much. I am so happy to have been able to use my childhood love of film-making to help better represent my costumes.
What are your career ambitions? What is your plan to get there?
In the long term I would like to achieve the role of Costume Designer, but until then my plan is to learn as much as I can in a film environment. I am looking to become a Costume Trainee and would love to learn more by working with professionals.
What tips and advice do you have for those also on a similar journey trying to establish their film careers?
My advice is to apply for and try everything, having one more person know your name can only be a good thing!
