For over a decade, MFJF has been helping early-career filmmakers launch their film careers, here is some of the feedback:
I use My First Job in Film because, as an individual with no formal training in film or contacts in the industry, it allows me to find jobs that I wouldn't otherwise have access to. It also allows me to see what people in similar positions to myself are doing to get ahead. It's a great platform for me as it offers a wide variety of entry-level roles and also allows me to apply to aspirational roles that I would boost my career trajectory.
My experience was incredibly enriching, as I had the chance to work with talented professionals and gain hands-on experience in a creative environment. I truly believe that the support and connections provided by My First Job in Film played a significant role in my success. I highly recommend the site to anyone looking to break into the film industry!
Thank you for the fantastic platform you provide.
My First Job in Film has been an invaluable resource as I start my career in the film industry. The site is user-friendly, easy to navigate, and consistently posts relevant, exciting opportunities that align with my goals. Thanks to the platform, I was able to secure a work experience placement — an amazing opportunity I wouldn’t have found otherwise. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to break into the industry. Thanks, MFJF!
I am overall very satisfied with MFJIF. After graduation, I have been on a non-stop job hunt, seeking for opportunities, with little to no luck. I found this website online, and I applied to almost every single job ad there was. After many applications, I am very happy to say that I got my first working experience at an award-winning production company through MFJIF. Ironically, this will be "my first job in film”. I am very grateful for this website and the extensive experiences it has to offer for young filmmakers. I cannot wait to start!
I've only just begun my journey of trying to break into the film industry, but I'm so glad I found MFJF.
My First Job in Film helped me break into the documentary industry. Within a couple of months I had multiple interviews and eventually accepted a work placement working with some incredible producers on upcoming docs. I found the daily job round-up extremely useful, the jobs are clearly advertised and laid out, making it easy to apply. Thank you so much to the whole team!
Looking for a film related opportunity had been a dead end since graduating three years ago. It turns out I'd been looking in the wrong places; as soon as I signed up I saw an opportunity perfect for me. I'd been hoping for years to get involved in the niche area of puppet-making and I was so surprised to see a role helping to make costumes for stop-motion armatures! The opportunity isn't permanent but I already feel positive for future prospects knowing MFJF has lots of roles advertised daily as well as great CV and cover letter help.
I use the site because I got it recommended to me from a colleague as I am constantly looking for opportunities in the film and TV industry. I am looking to pursue production assistant roles and enhance my skills in script reading and editing. I have found the website offers a lot of job advertisements into the roles I want and feel like MFJF makes it easy for job seekers(like me) to find work in the industry. Once I was successful in retrieving a volunteer opportunity as a script reader, I have learnt so much in terms of marking scripts and films, I feel like now I am more confident in finding a paid role in the industry.
I use MFJF as it is simple to use and is regularly updated with new jobs so feels like an active widow into the industry. It also has plenty of advice on how to optimise applications, which I have found to be very useful. Through it, I was successful in my application to volunteer as a script reader for Lift Off Global Media, an opportunity which I have found to be very rewarding and will hopefully will lead to more work in the future.
My First Job In Film is like no other. I have searched on countless websites for film-related jobs however haven't found much success. My First Job In Film is amazing in that its jobs are consistently updated daily so there is bound to be something for you. You can also get advice and feedback from a professional which is also extremely useful. I was constantly updated on my application from a member of staff which made me feel appreciated. Overall I couldn't recommend My First Job In Film highly enough to anyone wanting to get into the film industry and it is a website that I continue to use to this day.
Finding your first job or experience in an industry as competitive as the film industry is a Herculean labour. This is why a resource like My First Job In Film is so invaluable. There are no guarantees, but if you are patient and persistent enough, you will be rewarded. That's how I landed a great work experience placement at an amazing company!
I struggled to find any work experience or entry-level offers on other websites. It's extremely helpful that your website is for those who try to get their foot in the door and I like the career resources in particular. It's a tough industry to get into. I suppose patience and resilience is key.
MFJF has a really unique pool of opportunities, plus a simplistic interface that really is a breeze to use. It takes the stress out of job searching.
I haven’t been a member long as I only joined a few months ago. Within a few weeks, I got my first role (which I’m still doing), a month after I received another offer. It’s an amazing website offering so many opportunities and I would recommend it for anyone wanting to gain more experience in the industry. I like how there are lots of useful tips too on CVs, cover letters, and preparing for interviews.
I use My First Job In Film because it was recommended to me by my Lecturers. The website provides new amazing opportunities every day, and the company's communication is quick and thorough. I successfully found work experience with a reputable company using the site.
MFJF allowed me as a new entry into the industry to look for jobs suited to my experience with ease. There are many varied roles clearly laid out on MFJF and so it is easy to navigate and truly understand what it is you are applying and looking for.
I’ve been using MFJF for a while now and it’s my most reliable source for paid jobs - simple interface, straightforward application process, and great transparency. I’d recommend it to anyone starting out in the industry, and was very lucky to get a hold of one of those famously elusive script reading jobs through the website.
I like the layout of the website, it’s easy to use it. After sending about 30+ job applications for work experience in the scripted area of the industry, I got offered a volunteer role and that was great because I now have this on my CV. It was a good experience and I also made use of the 1 to 1 call which was beneficial for my cv because it looks much better now.
Yes, I got two gigs from My First Job in Film! It’s working out really well. Thank you again for your guidance and support through My First Job in Film — I’ve recommended the site to dozens of friends.
I use My First Job in Film because I found opportunities advertised there that I wouldn't have been able to find anywhere else. The interface is relatively easy to use and makes applying to jobs a much simpler, less daunting task. I was recommended the website by a friend and was at first hesitant to pay to be able to apply for jobs but the number and range of jobs available to me really made it worth the monthly subscription.
I think MFJF offers the biggest collection of entry level jobs and work experience schemes of any film job site I have used - although it took me a while to get my first internship scheme, it has been a really valuable experience where I get given quite a lot of responsibility. It has opened up further opportunities for me, which I'm really grateful to MFJF for.
I had tried for ages to get a job as a script reader, yet I just had not seen any advertisements for the role anywhere.
I tried to reach out to companies personally, but often received no response, or was told I needed some experience before I could be considered.
My First Job in Film allowed me to avoid all of that; I applied for roles directly and often came across ones that didn’t need any experience at all!
Thanks to MFJF, I am now working as a Script Reader, getting paid to evaluate scripts and have been able to leverage this experience to gain an internship in the industry too.
I am so thankful to MFJF; without them, I would still be hopelessly pestering companies for a job!
I signed up to My First Job in Film after a recommendation from my friend. It’s a really good name for your site, very on the nose and perfect for what we were looking for.
I just graduated from university after doing a degree in filmmaking and wanted to get into the creative side of filmmaking, not on-set production work. I found your website to have the best of both worlds and applied to many things through it. I love your opportunities to say something about yourself and your experience as well as attaching a CV and Cover Letter which I rarely get to do.
This script reporting experience was an interim position I wanted, something online and in the creative realm while I stayed home and practised to get my driver's license.
This position was also integral in my getting interviews for entry script-editing and development assistant positions at small production companies around the UK as well as generally improving my knowledge of script analysis.
I find the response from applications I’ve completed extremely fluid. Initially, I was worried applying through your website instead of a connection/the company's dedicated website would cause issues. But haven’t found this to be true.
All in all it’s a terrific website and I’m very glad to have used it. It is also a great overall view of what productions are happening where, which would be good for someone who’s flexible with bases.
MFJF is a fabulous venue for graduates and talented, energetic young people, with a passion for film and TV, to find work.
As a production company it is exciting to help nurture talented young individuals and see them grow in confidence and ability.
Stay Still Productions has successfully employed several editors, camera assistants, and production assistants through MFJF. They have all grown through working with us, and without exception gone on to find further success within the industry.
Thank you MFJF!
I found MFJF very easy to interact with. Moreover, unlike similar websites that require a subscription, with My First Job In Film you truly get your money's worth.
There were a lot of offers, all arranged very clearly, which were aimed exactly at what I was looking for. I found it also good that the website allowed you to answer some specific questions and provide additional information, without making you fill out two and a half pages of irrelevant information.
It was very professional and "to the point".
My first job in Film was a very good resource for me to target specifically the jobs that apply to me as a filmmaker.
I was able to filter and apply for runner jobs in London and managed to get hired by a post-production company in the center of London.
The website is also very intuitive and exciting to use and browse around all the vacancies. One thing I really like about the website is that it allows you to look at individual profiles too and gives you options to upload all the necessary information including a showreel in your profile.
I definitely would recommend My First Job in Film to anyone who wants to start a career in the film Industry.
I’ve found MFJF very helpful. The daily job alerts are really great and a good reminder for me to check the site.
I find MFJF to be very useful in quick, simple, and easy access to jobs within the industry. It is this site that has allowed me to find opportunities for work experience in my preferred field.
I found that MFJF is amazing at compiling opportunities that I would otherwise miss. I've also taken advantage of the 1-2-1 career and CV. After talking with Sam I was given a multitude of options that I can pursue to help me further my career and build my skills.
My First Job In Film gives you all the tools needed to find suitable jobs. There are a variety of amazing roles available and the application process is easy and fast. I have successfully experienced two great working opportunities from this site. If you are worried about your future in Film/TV then MFJF is a great place to start your journey!
I was so excited to find out that My First Job In Film exists and is available to help us new entrees into the film industry. The site helped me find my first professional experience as a script reader, kickstarting my career. All thanks to My First Job in Film!
I liked how the job opportunities were categorised; it meant I was able to find a work experience/ internship much more efficiently and quicker than I have on other websites (despite filtering it). It was also helpful in getting a receipt from the website to ensure my application had been successfully sent to the company.
I found out about My First Job in Film upon finishing my filmmaking course at Met Film School. I was blown away by the number and variety of opportunities offered, especially the fact that most of them are on a rolling basis. It helps you get yourself acquainted with the various departments, and their career prospects. That was crucial for me to navigate the industry, and really funnel my energies into the sector I’m hoping to pursue a career in, thanks to the distribution internship I landed at a Modern Films!
I have been happy with my MFJF experience. I had no idea where to find film and TV-related work until a friend mentioned the site to me. I gave it a go and thought the resources were really useful right off the bat.
The 1-2-1 chat was a big help in streamlining my CV and pointed me in a good direction.
I've actually gotten a few internships through MFJF, and have had a couple of interviews as well, so I've found it very useful.
I'm currently doing 2 script reading placements that I got from my first job in film, and I also did a production internship that I got through you a couple of months ago that was in fact the first job I ever had in film, so the name fits.
I have had an account for a few months now, so when I first got it I went through every job and applied to everything that sounds good, and since then I just go check the website every day looking at the 'today's new jobs' section and apply for the jobs I like.
I joined MFJF to find the right job for myself as I knew I’d always wanted to work in a professional production company / film studio.
The website itself was wonderfully clear and concise and I was able to apply to as many jobs as I wanted with my subscription. All the jobs were efficiently categorised and I was able to organise the jobs I wanted to apply for without difficulty.
MFJF also offers advice and tips for when you are applying and I found their services truly helpful.
Thanks to them I was able to successfully land a job as a studio runner. I am thrilled and excited to get going with the job!
I use My First Job in Film as it’s a great platform to connect with companies who are offering jobs with little/no experience. As a student coming into the film industry it’s incredibly hard to find jobs like this, so to have them all in one place is really helpful. I have already been offered two opportunities through this website which will massively help my career.
I love MFJF website. I’m new to the industry as my background is photography and it can be really daunting and confusing about where to start for an outsider. I would recommend the site to anyone, it was so easy to use and has all the best opportunities going! I was only on the site for around a month before landing my first job in film!
First of all I was successful and would like to thank the MFJF. (I actually started prep for the shoot today!)
I think the site is really informative and helpful in general in terms of getting applications together, what opportunities are out there and helping people monitor who they’ve applied to and how their applications are coming along, which I was really appreciative of.
It’s also user-friendly and has some handy tips about applications.
MFJF is actually very very good overall (the best I’ve come across so far in terms of helping people into the industry who are not in it anyway)… it’s also very helpful to first time users and people applying to the industry first time.
Basically I wouldn’t be in the industry without MFJF so I owe it a big debt of gratitude!
I found MFJF to be excellent - clearly easier to find a job than I thought - made the whole process exciting rather than stressful - an abundance of choice and great to be able to have opportunities drop into one’s inbox!
The website is wonderful. Very accessible and easy to use.
I use the site because it is exactly what I am looking for, which is my first job within the film industry and luckily, I succeeded using this site because it indeed gave me my first job in film.
I would highly recommend for anyone looking to get their foot in the door of the film industry.
The production companies which use this site are top notch and I feel very lucky to have found success on the site within just a few weeks!!
I think My First Job In Film website is an incredible tool for recent film and television graduates who are looking to start their careers in this industry. What I like about your website is that it is designed for people who have very little experience in film production if any.
I was very pleased when I was offered to do some work experience for a feature length documentary as a production assistant. This is another thing that I like about you website, the fact that you offer work experience/volunteering opportunities in order to gain experience and expand your skills.
I decided to use MFJF since I was really struggling to figure out where I should apply for a work experience this summer. The website was very helpful as it groups all the potential work experiences together and separates them from full-time job offers. I was offered work experience from where I’ll be working this summer.
I use MFJF to look for new opportunities that I think would suit my skill set. I think the format of it is great!
I started using MFJF after a friend told me about it when I was searching for a job after graduating from my Screenwriting MA. Even though I had 3 years of industry experience in Portugal moving to the UK meant starting fresh so it was good to have such varied positions at different respected companies available and easily within my reach with MFJF. Getting the feedback from positions I didn't get, or just getting notified that things were taking longer than expected, reassured me my applications weren't just disappearing into another pile.
My First Job in Film is a great resource to break into the film industry. I've found many opportunities which were not advertised anywhere else. So far I have had internships at two well established production companies.
MFJF is a really useful way to bridge that barrier between having no way into the industry and getting a foot in the door.
I was pleasantly surprised to see I was successful in my application, so I must say that your website helped me take an important step towards my ideal job. The website per se is intuitive and easy to use!
Never has applying to film/TV companies been so easy and convenient than when using MFJF. It's simple layout and interface has allowed me to apply to multiple companies quickly and just recently secured a great internship at a sales company.
The process to apply was very simple and easy, unlike most other websites MFJF is straight to the point and provides everything a job seeker will be looking for. I shall definitely keep using this site in the future.
The website is very easy to use and quite intuitive. The application process in itself is made easy and straightforward, and I was able to send my application in shortly after the ad was posted. With My First Job in Film, more than all the other websites I’ve been paying for, I feel like I’m getting much more for my money’s worth.
My First Job in Film is one of the easiest television/film job websites I’ve used. I’ve found every application process a breeze and the useful email updates from the team regarding applications is always welcome and reassuring. You really feel that they care about you.
Thanks to My First Job in Film I am now part of an exciting writers room and I can’t wait to see where this opportunity takes me.
Thanks My First Job in Film!
I applied to many jobs and only a month and a half later I started working as a Post-Production Runner in a Netflix new series (with an amazing team!)
Without applying through MFJF, I would still be looking for my first job in the film industry! Besides, the website provides you with a lot of tips to write down your cv and above all to prepare you for interviews! There is plenty of info about each role (what you're expected to do and how to get prepared for it). I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for their first job in film. Also, so many new jobs are posted every single day- it's a very useful website indeed.
MFJF is a great resource. It's a good place to find wonderful opportunities all grouped together. The positions that are advertised there are great.
I signed up to My First Job In Film a couple of years ago mainly for the advice articles which were very useful to me as I studied Fine Art at university so didn’t really have any experience of the film industry and how to begin a career in film.
I use this website because I feel that it is trustworthy and has genuine opportunities for people just beginning in film. It’s also been really great being able to see all of the opportunities advertised every day as it gave me confidence that I would be able to get some work experience opportunities as there was always something that I could apply for.
I definitely didn’t expect to get a job in film so quickly after moving to London! It definitely was a good decision to sign up to My First in Film and I look forward to starting my new job in the new year!
MFJF offers daily opportunities that often vary into each different branch of filmmaking. It has allowed me to get what the website name offers, my first job in film!
I'm really enjoying the Script Reading Work Experience that I found through MFJF. Had it not been for this site I don't think I would've found such experience or come across so many entry level jobs to apply for. Thank you!
I have been on an HETV Drama for nearly a month now via MFJF. Prior I had gained two work experience roles from MFJF postings, and believe that these on my CV were instrumental for me getting this role.
I believe MFJF only lists the most reputable roles from reputable sources.
I have been using the site ever since I graduated initially to go for voluntary roles - then my first paid role, which is how it worked out luckily
I really like MFJF, it clearly tells me the different roles and different stages in the film industry. It's good for entry-level filmmakers to gain more information.
As a Chinese, I really appreciate that I find a voluntary job in judging the films in lift-off film festivals. This voluntary chance opens my horizons about various types of films. I really enjoy this community. Hopefully, I can make friends with more filmmakers via this website.
I found the interface of My First Job in Film very intuitive and found the way the various roles were played out (work experience, fixed-contract, volunteer etc.) very useful and easy to scan through.
I also very much liked how you can instantly see if a job has already been applied to with the red ’submitted’ next to it.
I really like the website and am sure I will continue to use it after this internship. Thanks!
MFJF is very easy to use and not too intimidating. I don’t come from a film background so I’ve been nervous to try and enter the industry, but My First Job in Film made applying feel easy and very accessible. I successfully got my first job in film from the website and will be using it to apply to more jobs in the future.
MFJF has been an excellent website where I have found many various opportunities and have received insightful and result producing guidance from the team.
I had previously felt very daunted by the industry and kept thinking I was completely out of my league trying to break into it, but MFJF reignited that hope and provided some essential steps in my career progress. I know there is still a hell of a long way to go, but I feel more prepared and steadfast to my creative dreams due to the help the MFJF team gave me.
Can't say enough how grateful I am for the continued support and help given by your team.
I graduated from university earlier this year and had been struggling to even get replies to my applications. Realising it was probably due to a lack of industry experience I started using MFJF.
I found MFJF to be one of the very few that had work experience placements and internship schemes advertised.
This is my second placement through MFJF.
The website itself is also a lot simpler and straight to the point. Unlike other jobs board sites, the standard of the roles is always high, whereas in other places like Facebook, for example, you have reservations about their legitimacy.
MFJF is easy to use, simple to update your profile and just as simple to apply for the regularly updated roles and opportunities that are available. I think my success in finding a role so soon after signing up was due to the factor of accessibility the site offers.
I would definitely recommend MFJF to anyone new trying to get into film!
My First Job in Film is a great platform for those interested in joining the film industry but wondering where to start.
Not only are there new jobs posted nearly every day but the team at MFJIF are supportive and offer very good advice.
I am about to start my second work experience gained through the website and hope to gain more experience across other areas of the film production line to find my place in the film industry.
First and foremost I think the pricing for the pro membership is incredibly reasonable, paying for the service with some of my remaining student loan. The site is incredibly easy to use, easy to navigate and easy to find what you're looking for. I found that the more I used the service the more jobs came up, or at least the more jobs I became interested in. I think it's fantastic how many jobs the site has across the country, and in different sectors of the industry such as Student, HETV, Film and Animation.
My First Job in Film has been an essential resource for kickstarting my career within the film industry.
The support that the website has to offer with the CV advice is extremely helpful with working out what improvements I can make.
Sam was my CV advisor and he was super friendly and useful and he also answered any questions and queries that I had about working on set.
The website has a huge range of jobs available to apply to offering some amazing opportunities. Since getting my first job through MFJF it has given me the opportunity to meet people within the industry that have offered me further opportunities and I going on to 1st a short film at the start of the month.
This would not have happened if it wasn’t for the runner position I got through MFJF.
I joined MFJF in March and got my first job 5 months later. Your site was recommended to me by Elstree studios. There are a lot of bogus ones out there so it was good to be recommended from a reputable source.
Your site gives an insight into many jobs in the industry that perhaps I would not have thought of.
I was pleased to be successful. It will give me a step in the right direction.
I starting using the website to get my foot in the door. I am grateful for the opportunity given to me, which I would never have found otherwise.
When I first started using My First Job in Film, I was working as an intern in marketing for a small company in London. Whilst this was a great opportunity, it wasn’t in my dream industry and I was eager to put my MA in Creative Writing to use and pursue my passion for film and television. Of all the other job sites, MFJF was the easiest and most useful place to find job opportunities for entry level positions - especially in the creative industries. The application processes were always quick and easy - which made a huge change from other platforms I was using at the time. I never had to fill in incredibly long information about myself, and all of the jobs recommended to me were stored in one convenient place.
After 4 months of using the service I was asked to interview for a freelance role as a development researcher. I was lucky enough to get the position after an interview and I worked with the production company for 6-months whilst I continued at my other job. Whilst I was there I met my now-boss, who I have been working with full-time for the past year. I am now pursuing my dream of working in script development as a Development Coordinator for his start-up Script Compass which offers support and feedback on scripts to filmmakers from all backgrounds. I really owe a lot of my success to this brilliant platform - now I am even using it to hire other people in film and television.
Thank you MFJF!

I used MFJF to gain experience that is so needed in this industry and that experience turned into a full-time job and boosted me in the right direction for a career in film!
MFJF has been extremely helpful with not only getting me a job but also keeping me hopeful that there are jobs out there. It’s often understood that getting a paid job in the industry is impossible unless you know someone, however, MFJF has proven that wrong.
I use My First Job In Film as it’s a brilliant site for recent film graduates like myself to add experience to the CV, as well as gain potential full-time employment within the industry. I made an account as soon as I graduated to be able to apply to any opportunities that interested me. The site is very easy to understand and gives all the information needed to apply smoothly, I couldn’t recommend it enough! I was successful in finding an internship through MFJF, which has been a brilliant experience and boosted my confidence as well as my CV
I started using My First Job In Film to help with a career change and was really impressed by the ease at which it could be used, and the amount of jobs were being listed, especially during lockdown. I was delighted to be offered an Internship which has allowed me to get my foot in the door and hopefully push on from there!
The internship was indeed very useful and formative, and I am grateful for having had the opportunity to do that. I use MFJF because it's one of the most comprehensive job websites for people that like me are just starting out in this industry. This is the first time one of my applications has been successful, and it took a while for that to happen. I hope it will now lead to more and better things.
I first joined MFJF after obtaining my BA in Film & English Literature, and finding myself lacking in practical experience. Since joining, I have successfully taken part in two work experience schemes that were both fun and informative.
The first was a two-week in-house runner internship where the production company compensated my lunch, travel and even an international day trip to Prague to courier wardrobe (pre-pandemic of course)! My second, current opportunity is a home-based script reading position that looks like it could possibly extend beyond the finishing date!
Both positions were well worth the MFJF subscription fee and have given me a great baseline to springboard into a future, paid position.
Times are tough at the moment as the industry adjusts to the current Covid-19 climate, with creative job opportunities far and few between, but My First Job in Film has been a light within these dark times, allowing me to continue to seek new experiences and employment opportunities.
My script consultant Dr. Kira-Anne Pelican recommended this site to me. I signed up via email and I began receiving updates/info about jobs. Many of these I passed on to colleagues in the industry who have found work thanks to your website. Info on my present job came into my inbox and I applied. Before I sent my application letter I emailed one of your staff who kindly read through it and made some helpful suggestions. I was really pleased with the discounted charge of £4.99 a month. This makes it affordable for people on low incomes like myself.
All in all I have been really impressed with your website and the service of your excellent staff.
Graduating without a film degree, the idea of even getting a 'foot-in-the-door' seemed impossible. MFJF came up online as a helpful site, and wow it was!
Initially, it gave me hope that there were actually opportunities out there, and subsequently also gave me the chance to take part in some amazing internships within the industry.
I am now doing freelance script reading through a MFJF partner company alongside many other freelance jobs in the industry.
I found My First Job in Film Job through a friend, because I was looking for a place where I could find jobs aimed at recent graduates and junior roles I decided to sign up. It offers a lot of opportunities that are exclusively aimed at production and not just overall job opportunities. I've really enjoyed my experience, I have gotten three internships through the website and it really helped me kick start my experience in the industry.
I started using My First Job In Film after switching from the legal industry to the film industry, which is my true passion. I was worried that I didn't have much on my CV with relevance to the film industry, so I wanted to get some work experience. My First Job In Film was super easy to use, with a great layout and jobs appearing nearly every day. After several applications, I was successful in obtaining two work experience placements in the film industry, despite having never worked in film before. Thank you!
I chose My First Job In Film because I needed more experience after graduating university. I love that the site offers experience and jobs from all elements of film and television production. The jobs come with enough description so I can create the best cover letter for the role which I find important. I’m so grateful that I’ve got some work experience in an area I want to make a career and I have My First Job In Film to thank.
Starting a career in the film industry is a very tough step that will undoubtedly test your patience to its limits. My First Job in Film helped me find an array of entry-level positions that were looking to hire people just like me. Although I grew frustrated after months of applying with no responses, their one-to-one CV and cover letter advice sessions helped a great deal in getting me to my first full-time director/producer position, secured through MFJIF!
MFJIF helped me with my confidence in finding opportunities that mirrored what I wanted to do in life. I never expected to get a response from the internship that I am in right now and I am still getting a few responses from other companies. Trust me when I say, it is worth signing up for MFJIF. I’ve been telling all my friends about it!
Subscribing to MFJF has given me great access to otherwise hard to find career opportunities in film. The site has been a tremendous help in finding roles relevant to my career interests with the details of a role clearly laid out on the site which really helps the application process. I successfully landed a six week Development Internship with Blackbox Multimedia, a TV and Film Production Company through using the site and have now progressed to a Script Reader Work Experience Program with Midsummer Films. My First Job in Film has been instrumental in helping me get experience and make contacts in the industry. I will definitely continue to use it as I work to further develop a career for myself in film.
After graduating from University I was struggling to find a way to get my foot on the first rung of the ladder. Having little experience myself, it was useful to be able to apply for jobs through MFJF who understood that. As a result I was offered a fantastic 3-Month internship in a leading trailer editing company, the experience I've gained has been invaluable, and I am looking forward to carrying it forward into future roles!
MFJF helps provide young film-makers/students/graduates valuable work experience.
MFJF has provided an excellent platform. It is definitely worth the subscription!
Applying to production companies is so easy and convenient than when using MFJF. I recently secured a great internship!
MFJF has been a wonderful tool for starting out a career in film. Constantly refreshing my inbox to see what exciting opportunities they have available each day, which I can easily apply for in seconds on my phone. The Facebook group also provides a great community to get advice and feedback, and without MFJF I wouldn't have been able to secure the work experience opportunities I have. Thank you!
@filmbygemma
I moved to London with no connections, since using MFJF, I’ve been able to score invaluable work experience and make great contacts I wouldn’t have been able to otherwise!
My placement has provided a great insight into the development of Films and TV Drama. I thoroughly recommend opportunities such as these and membership of MFJF
My First Job in Film is a one-of-a-kind resource. I was able to gain my first role in production as a Production Assistant through the website. I didn’t have much previous industry experience but MFJIF had enough CV advice and career guidance to help prepare me for the interview.
MFJF actually gave me my first job in film! The best site for individuals with limited or no experience to make a start!
For the opportunities that are present to you, it’s definitely worth the investment.
My First Job In Film is a fantastic website full of exciting opportunities within the industry. As a newbie in the film industry it was refreshing to see that there were plenty of opportunity for both film work and film experience/development. I would recommend this website to anyone looking to get their foot in the door within the industry or to seasoned industry campaigners, especially freelancers looking for new work.
I subscribed to MFJF as it was the only website targeted at young aspiring filmmakers trying to break into the industry. I was having no luck finding any work in film elsewhere but I was only on the MFJF site less than a month when I got the role as Post Production Runner in Absolute Post and I have not looked back!"
Your website is amazing to find entry level opportunities in the film industry. After being stock for a few months trying to find that little crack in the door, MyFirstJobInFilm really helped me a lot to understand better what I want and also find those internships and roles that will get me there. I've just finished now an internship at a film sales company where I've really learnt a lot and I can't wait for the next one. I guess you gave me a bit of hope above all.
MFJF has been such a helpful platform for me. Having switched career from a completely different industry, it was hard to get anywhere by myself. MFJIF gave me a way in to get work experience and internships, and then the permanent position at a great production company that I have now!
I've chosen to use your site because I was looking for work opportunities in the UK. As a Belgian based Script Reader, Writing coordinator and Script Editor, I wanted to broaden my horizon and have the possibility to do the same in England. Your site has been really helpful at giving me my first work opportunities: First with the Cheap Cut Film Festival as a Viewer (two years in a row), now with Midsummer Films.
As a student at the NFTS for their 2018-2019 Script Development Programme, I consider myself very lucky to be able to read for my first British Company at the same time. I am sure those experiences will open more doors in future.
Therefore, thanks to MFJF for the amazing work opportunities the website provides.
I found my first job in film by having a quick google of ‘jobs in film - London’ and stumbling across the website. After reading a few of the reviews from young people who seemed to be in a similar ‘post-graduation’ situation to me I decided to sign up to the membership for a month to widen my job search. So many opportunities were available and as soon as I started applying I received very quick responses and ended up with a job extremely soon after! The website as a whole was very informative and helpful, the option to add a video CV also intrigued me and proved the website worked well for creatives. It was a great process and I would definitely recommend to friends, thanks so much My First Job in Film!
MFJIF was recommended to me by a friend and landed me my current position, which I love. It's incredibly easy to use, and the team is very good at keeping in touch with the latest job postings, which was ideal as I was sometimes too busy to check the site myself. For the opportunities that are present to you, it’s definitely worth the investment.
MyFirstJobInFilm provides a flow of opportunities. While more often than not you can find yourself not the match for the job, it does help you to keep trying and is always supportive of your efforts. I have attended a networking event and got a personal consultation. While neither of them helped me to land a job, both were very encouraging and helped me to better understand my place in the hazy world of Development. This, in turn, tuned me to steady growth, and in time led to a job. It is an unpaid position, but the quality of works I get to read and provide feedback on is miles better than the works I get to judge for competitions. I am learning a lot about the industry and the writers by analyzing these works and I feel that it will help me to establish myself as a Script Reader.
MFJF has a huge range of guides for entering the industry. They helped me tailor a CV that gave me a great start in the industry.
MFJF genuinely care and help you get your foot into the door, rather than just being another job site. Thank you so much for your help!
