After completing my postgraduate qualification in film production, I began my professional career as a location sound recordist before transitioning to a self-shooting producer/director. I have numerous broadcast credits and awards in various roles.
In 2008, I accepted the position of Head of Film Production at the Bristol Old Viv Theatre School, where I worked until 2023, while also continuing my freelance producer/director/sound role during downtime.
At BOVTS, I was initially responsible for transitioning the film department from a tape-based workflow to a file-based workflow across the whole production and postproduction process. I was responsible for teaching both undergraduate and post graduate students along with curriculum development for all courses. I was responsible for the academic assessment, guidance and mentorship across all students working in the film department.
In 2012, I set up, in conjunction with Watershed, the Film Academy Bristol with funding from BFI. The academy was training 16 -19 year-olds from a diverse range of backgrounds to enter the film industry. Unfortunately, the Film Academy folded at BOVTS due to the pandemic. I have extensive connections within the film/TV production industry and secured roles on productions for my graduating BOVTS students, as well as work placements required by their modules. I am currently affiliated with Films @59, who act as my freelance agent for film and TV work.
