About Robert

Robert Gilliland is a graduate of the Master’s Film Program at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) School of Film and TV Production. While attending LMU, he made three student films, along with completing his thesis film, I AM JUNE, which has been an Official Selection in numerous film festivals around the world. The San Diego Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival selected I AM JUNE which lead to speaking on a panel at Comic-Con. Prior to film school, Robert was a news Photog and Editor for the Morning Show at a local NBC affiliate where he worked on various projects for the station. He also made numerous films and music videos while he was a student at The University of Texas at El Paso, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication with a minor in Film Studies. Robert then entered LMU hoping to become a cinematographer but found his passion in writing, directing and producing. In this way, he can tell stories that inspire others to be better versions of themselves. As a Mexican-American, Robert feels that minorities and women are not truly represented in the industry, leading to stereotypes and typecasting. Therefore, he always aims for an assortment of cast and crew, in this way various stories can be told. As a filmmaker, Robert feels that horror, fantasy and sci-fi are great genres to ask deep questions of the soul and reflect on the human condition. He will always have a passion to inspire through story.
