Learn the basics of period makeup, hair and wig work on our 3 week short course. Designed to teach you the skills you need to work in today’s HDTV, film and theatre industries, this course covers a range of different professional techniques from applying wigs and hair pieces, to setting and styling the finished look.
The course will begin with teaching you how to accurately research historical looks. You’ll also gain experience in preparing and applying a range of hair pieces including switches, clusters, wefts and full wigs. The final stage of this short course gives you the chance to create a range of period hair and makeup looks including 1920s, 1940s, 1960s and Edwardian looks. Throughout this 3 week course you will be able to view all your work on a monitor under studio lighting conditions, and you will be assessed on all skills, from application techniques to creativity.
At the end of this short course in period hair and makeup you will have the skills to successfully create period looks for TV, film and theatre. You will have gained experience creating iconic period makeup and hair looks and will know period hairstyling techniques including pin curling, marcel waving and finger waving.
