About Rama

I can trace my love for film back to when I was a kid. I wasn’t always as outgoing as I am now—in fact, I was a shy child, often bullied, carrying more silence than words. My father worked overseas with UNICEF, and my mother crossed checkpoints every day to get to work. My older sister and younger brother were my anchors at home, but even then, I often felt like there was no real way out. That’s when film became my escape. Movies and shows were my refuge—worlds I could disappear into, characters I could live through, and stories that reminded me there was always more out there than the walls around me. Years later, at a summer camp, I stumbled into a filmmaking and photography workshop, and suddenly everything came full circle. What once served as my escape became something I could build for others. Holding a camera, creating a frame, imagining a story—it gave me the same freedom I’d once sought as a child, but this time it wasn’t just for me. It was a way to craft worlds that others could also escape into, to spark imagination, to inspire, and to give voice to stories—whether my own or someone else’s. Film isn’t just what I do. It’s where I began, where I healed, and where I found my purpose.
