About Shruti

I’m Shruti Nayak, a filmmaker from Odisha, India, now based in London. My work explores the politics of place—how architecture shapes identity, and how borders, once crossed, continue to live inside our bodies. I don’t see space as neutral. From working as an Art Assistant on campaigns for Lucozade and the Tower of London, to designing sets as the Production Designer for 'Stay the Night' and supervising on feature films like 'D.A.L.I.', I’ve built a practice that investigates how space produces subjectivity. I’m drawn to how we’re constantly negotiating ourselves through the rooms we enter, the ones we’re kept out of, and the ones we try to make our own. My visual language leans into stillness, silence, and subtle shifts—the quiet architectures of power that shape us without spectacle. Alongside my work in the art department, I’ve also worked as an Assistant Director on short films and continue to actively seek roles as a Production Assistant across both narrative and commercial projects. I thrive in collaborative, hands-on environments and bring a grounded, observant energy to every set I’m part of.
