Ask for Help!

We all know that job hunting is a lonely frustrating time. So do not do it by yourself!

Seriously, at MFJF we offer monthly 1:1 Personal Career Advice sessions where we can work with you, guide you, support you and answer all those niggling questions you have.

One aspect of the film industry that is particularly annoying is the lack of feedback or even a response to job applications you submit. You spend all that time customising a CV and Cover Letter and don’t even get a reply back. We call it the CV Black Hole and its deeply infuriating.

So if the recruiter is not giving you feedback, how are you suppose to know if your application or CV is any good?

Ask us! For over 15 years we have been working with recruiters from the biggest feature films to the smallest production companies. We know what makes someone standout and we can help you do just that.

Book a 1:1 with a member of our team today to FAST TRACK your career!

Beyond MFJF, you need to engage with experienced film professionals, better still recent PAs or interns who have recently established themselves as their knowledge of where to find work and how will be more fresh.

Ask your friends from Uni or College, ask people on the film sets you work on, the companies you intern at. Most people will want to help.

Don’t be afraid to cold call or email. Just be Polite, Professional and Persistent - the Three Ps Rule!

There are schemes and programs out there you may never heard of. There are websites, Facebook Groups, WhatsApp groups, courses and workshops, the list is long but knowing and utilising every resource you can is vital. But you need to hear about them first so seeking out and asking for advice and help is key for you to progress your career.

So do not be shy, ask for help! You will need to make that first step, so do it!
